EXCURSION TO THE ANDRAZ CASTLE & DINNER AT THE "BAITA"

An excursion to an ancient castle nestled in the heart of the Dolomites. It will be a chance to rediscover some stories and legends of the Monti Pallidi and to experience a little adventure.

It will not only be a refreshing walk through larch and fir woods, but also an opportunity to participate to a "treasure hunt" uncovering clues that will give us historical insights of the Andraz Castle, built in the 11th century on a gigantic rocky spur.  

 

The guide of this special adventure will reveal you some intriguing stories of witches, kings, queens, princesses, dwarfs and swords, legends that have their roots right on these Dolomite peaks.

Like the story, based in Andraz, of the Delibana and the Monte Pore iron mines which, according to the academic Giuliano Palmieri, was the inspiration for the Grimm Brothers in writing the plot of the most legendary of the fairy tales:“Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” 
 

The excursion, easy and suitable for everyone, will end with a traditional local dinner at La Baita restaurant - Via Cernadoi 64, Livinallongo del Col di Lana  (BL).  

 

PROGRAMME

• between 9:30 and 15:30:

Registration for the excursion with included "treasure hunt" maps at the Adventure Outdoor Fest Info Point in Colle Santa Lucia (Via Villagrande, 57).

You can walk around Colle Santa Lucia, with its splendid view of Monte Pore, Val Fiorentina and the mighty Pelmo and Civetta to uncover the first clues.

It will also be possible to register for a guided tour to the Fursil mines open all day until the start of the excursion. 

• between 16:00 and 16:30:

Meeting point at La Baita Restaurant- Via Cernadoi 64, Livinallongo del Col di Lana (BL)

• 16:30

Departure of the excursion to the Andraz Castle followed by a traditional local dinner at La Baita restaurant.  

 

For those interested, it will also be possible to book an overnight stay with breakfast at La Baita Hotel.

 

In case of bad weather the excursion may be cancelled.
