CAI GRUPPO REGIONALE TOSCANA
( walking / trekking )

The Italian Alpine Club (CAI) is an association founded in 1863, two years after the birth of Italy. Since then, it has been dedicated to the mountains, particularly the Italian ones, focusing on their knowledge, the preservation of their environment, and promoting their responsible visitation.

Throughout Italy, there are about 350,000 members, divided into sections, which are grouped into various Regional Groups (GR).

The Regional Group CAI Tuscany (GRT) coordinates and supports the activities of the sections and acts as an intermediary with the central headquarters, regional and local administrations, and the parks within its territory. It organizes, through specific commissions: the cleaning and maintenance of the trails, which everyone uses to move in the mountains and along the paths; the training of instructors and guides (mountaineering, hiking, ski mountaineering, speleology, canyoning, environmental protection of the mountains, climbing) to spread the culture and good practices of mountain activities; research and study to increase knowledge of the mountain environment, also in collaboration with universities and schools.

In Tuscany, there are about 14,500 members, distributed among 27 sections. In each section, many volunteer members take charge of the activities listed above and are witnesses to the ethics and values of CAI.

While following the white and red signs that mark the paths to follow to reach the destination and not get lost, think of us and come to find us in our sections.

On the website www.caitoscana.it, you can find the various activities carried out by the GR Toscana and the individual sections: courses, excursions, conferences, and the protection of the mountain environment.
