ADVENTURE MOVIE AWARDS 2019

A prestigious jury combined with the participation of the most famous international adventure short movies make of the AOF Adventure Movie Awards one of the most important movie competition in the adventure sector.
Today's event will start with the opening of the 2019 competition followed by the screening of short movies selected from this edition.

CAN’T SKI VEGAS - Joey Schusler, Ben Page & Thomas Woodson 11’

“On paper we’d come in search of the biggest ski lines of our lives. But the reality was that we simply had come to celebrate friendship. To withdraw into the wild, to remove distractions and cell service and emails, and to invest purposeful time into being together. I guess that’s the real meaning of a bachelor party.”

A NORDIC SKATER - Paulius Neverbickas 5’

A Nordic Skater is a very first film in the world about the nordic skating - a Scandinavian style cross-country ice skating on frozen lakes and fjords. It features a man named Per Sollerman, a photographer who has been skating for the past 10 years. In the film the viewer is transported to the region of Oslo to have a peek at a story of a man who uses every sense he has to travel on thin ice. Per tells the story of how the little known sport of nordic skating came to play a big part in his life. “It is rooted deep in our bones that we need to be out in the nature” he says.

GROUND RUSH - Bella Meyer 27’

Ground Rush follows Alex Miziuk, a young base jumper determined to live his life on (and over) the edge. After nine years in the military, he sets off on a journey to the most famous jump sites in Europe starting with Beachy Head, UK. But as one of the most dangerous years in the sport’s history comes to an end, Alex is forced to reconsider what is most important to him.

ALTAI FRONTIER - Vivienne Smith 24’

Four western ski and snowboard athletes were invited into the restricted Xinjiang Autonomous Region of China to explore the untapped Altai Mountains. They interact with a 2000 year old skiing culture, learn how to make ancient traditional skis and make first ascents as they discover what's been hiding in the back country of China's remote mountains.

THE TIME TRAVELERS - Forest Woodward & Brendan Leonard 23’

In January 2017, the USA Rafting Team set their sights breaking the speed record on the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon on a 48-foot custom boat they built themselves. The Time Travelers follows a few ordinary guys trying to do something extraordinary—rowing 280 miles in less than 40 hours—on one of the world’s most breathtaking and unique stages.

ICEolation - Sophie Ballagh & Ewan Blyth 29’

Two People, two weeks, two kayaks.
Sophie and Ewan took a journey beyond wilderness, a self supported journey via sea kayak to connect with an uninhabited land of ice and penguins.
The film takes you with them on their journey from the preparations of planning such an expedition, through the challenges and riding the highs of Antarctica

 

Each short movie will be introduced, presented and then briefly commented on.

The language will be either Italian or English.
