Either in sport or in life, it is a common experience the feeling of having too many thoughts in the head, of being overwhelmed by negative emotions, of living on auto-pilot without being able to "really disconnect". Mindfulness is an answer to all of this, but it’s also something more.
The most widespread definition of mindfulness is that of Dr. Jon Kabat Zinn, "to pay attention in a particular way: intentionally, in the present moment and in a non-judgmental way". Initially used mainly in the therapeutic field, meditation techniques have spread in sports and well-being practices because they strengthen concentration, reduce stress and allow us to live in the here and now for what it is, the only moment in which we have real power; the past no longer exists, the future does not exist yet.
