Capoeira is a form of contactless self-defense expressed in the form of a dance.
It was born in Brazil among the communities of black slaves forced to work in the sugar cane plantations.
They were held with chains on their wrists and in order to defend themselves from the abuses of the masters they invented a fight centered on the strength and agility of the legs, which in some movements are "thrown" and spun in the air.
The elements of dance (samba) and music (percussion and birimbao), contained in Capoeira, were probably introduced by slaves to disguise their intentions, but are still an integral part of the discipline today.
After forming a circle (the roda) in which everyone plays and sings with the Birimbau (typical stringed instrument), the confrontation (called "game") between the first two players begins.
