MAIN ROADS: a school 1000 km long
The traveling school project opens its doors and puts on its hiking boots!

A meeting dedicated to learning about the Strade Maestre project and the surrounding area. We will walk together and discuss a new and innovative way of schooling, a slow journey through Italy that lasts an entire school year.

But what is Strade Maestre? Imagine a group of kids equipped for a long trek, with backpacks and hiking boots, along a path. They are accompanied by adults, environmental hiking guides, and main subject teachers. Walking for several hours a day, they carry out their educational activities, drawing inspiration from the territory they pass through. After several days of walking, a break at a farm, a cultural center, the headquarters of a foundation, and then back on the road.

Imagine their daily routine: preparing backpacks, departures, landscapes, arrivals. Nights in tents and those in the guesthouses of municipalities, associations, companies, parishes, farms. The planned and unexpected encounters. An extraordinary journey of education and learning. The Strade Maestre.

The first year of Strade Maestre will start in September 2024, but there are still available spots and registrations are still open. The day is designed to give boys and girls who want to participate the chance to learn more, and for those who have already decided to join, the opportunity to get to know each other better in person.
