FAUSTO DE STEFANI: A MOUNTAIN OF DREAMS, ADVENTURE AND SOLIDARITY

The story of Fausto de Stefani goes far beyond the confines of the mountain. He speaks to the imagination and ability to dream of the child who dwells in each of us.
And he speaks to the adults that we are or will become, who struggle to find meaning in their actions and in their lives.

Farmer, coachbuilder, hiker, mountaineer, photographer, environmentalist, activist, Fausto has always been a dreamer. Ever since, as a child, he had listened to the stories of Mandelo, an old vagabond from the Lower Mantovana, who enchanted the children of the farmhouses with his stories about him. "Get on my hot air balloon", he told them, and that voice capable of conversing with the wind and with the flowers, transported them to the most remote corners of the globe. From that balloon, pushed by the wind of the imagination, Fausto never got off. It is from that special perspective between dream and reality that he has seen the world, the people who inhabit it and the different cultures that populate it.

Love for the mountains goes hand in hand with attention to the environment and solidarity.
In fact, Fausto is an activist, a founding member of "Mountain Wilderness", he is the promoter of the "Rarahil Memorial School, a school a stone's throw from heaven" project built in Kirtipur, a small town in the suburbs of Kathmandu, Nepal, and is also involved in Italy with activities to raise awareness of environmental issues and approach the mountains, including the project "La Collina di Lorenzo", a naturalistic oasis in Castiglione delle Stiviere (Mn), as well as countless conferences and photographic and educational exhibitions.
