Kinnaur Himalaya, at the border between order and chaos is the result of six months of work, led by Emanuele Confortin, journalist and independent photojournalist.
We are in Kinnaur, a little district of the Indian Himalaya located on the politically delicate Indo-Chinese border.
The investigation takes place among the Kinnaura, a tribal group threatened by the climate change, the militarization at the borders and the seductions of one of the most vibrant economies on the planet. The project, carried out during six months of presence on the ground, combines ethnographic investigation, geopolitical analysis and reportage.
The author's aim was to have his finger on the pulse of an ancient civilization, capable of experiencing shamanic practices and animist cults linked to the ancestral forces of nature but facing today an historical point with issues like modernity, development and globalization.
